Warsaw; so far so good I guess
Hey everyone,
I just set up this blog with Mindsay so what I could do a better job of keeping up with everyone. At this point, I'm not sure exactly how much I'll use it, but hopefully this will allow you all to catch up with what I have been doing at your convienence.
My first two weeks in Poland have been full of ups and downs. In all honesty, probably more downs that ups unfortunately. I have to admit that I am horribly homesick, worse than I have ever been in my life, and that I am pretty lonely. Other than that, all is well though. The biggest problem is that I am just bored out of my gord. Warsaw definitely deserves its nickname of "The Big Potato," and I am semi-disappointed in the lack of things to do here. This however, may just be a function of me not getting out into the city enough though and I have resolved to try and do more things. Also, classes haven't started yet and the normal Polish and international students don't come back for another week, so the dorms are dead except for the goddamn renovators who start banging on things at around 7 AM only to quit working about noon. It's really getting old. The people in the dorm have been the only people I have had any problems with so far though; they are just really grumpy. Also, we still only have one internet connection in our room which makes things difficult, and no phone. I have decided that getting a phone in the room, actually what you have to do is buy "impulses" which are way over priced, is not worth the money and I am just going to buy a cell on Monday. I will make sure everyone has that number and you should be able to call me on it using a calling card or some other international calling service just as if it were a landline.
